VDOlocal is India's video-first digital storefront platform — built to help every physical store owner take their business online without marketplace dependency.
India has an estimated 12–13 million physical retail stores, according to industry estimates from the Retailers Association of India (RAI) and Bain & Company's annual India retail reports. These stores employ tens of millions of people and generate the majority of Indian retail GDP — yet the overwhelming majority of them still have no meaningful digital presence beyond a WhatsApp status update.
The options available to them today are bad. Marketplaces like Amazon, Flipkart, and Meesho charge 15–30% commissions, own the customer relationship, and put competing sellers on the same product page. Building a Shopify site requires technical skill, recurring agency fees, and a marketing budget most neighbourhood stores do not have. The result is a false choice: lose margin to a marketplace, or stay invisible.
VDOlocal exists to end that false choice. We give every physical store owner a branded, video-first digital storefront they fully own — so they can sell online without losing their margin, their customers, or their identity. Our mission is to put a million Indian store owners online on their own terms.

Static photos do not tell the full story. A Banarasi saree needs to catch light as it moves. A pair of earrings needs to be seen at multiple angles. A haircut needs to be watched, not photographed. Video is how customers actually evaluate products when they walk into a physical store — and VDOlocal brings that same sensory experience online.
With VDOlocal, a store owner records a 10–30 second video of a product on the same phone they already use for WhatsApp. They upload it with a price, a short description, and stock status. Customers watch, shortlist, tap to WhatsApp, and walk in ready to buy. Fewer returns, faster decisions, higher trust. For store owners who deal in high-consideration purchases — fashion, jewellery, décor, beauty services — this is an order of magnitude better than a grid of stock photos.

We are actively working with store owners across Mumbai — including in historically significant retail districts like Lokhandwala Market, Zaveri Bazaar, and Linking Road — to shape VDOlocal around how Indian retail actually operates. If you run a market association or represent a trade body and want to partner with us, we'd love to hear from you.
Be among the first Indian store owners to take their business online — without marketplace dependency, without commission, without middlemen.
